Chronology of cameras Canon
The Prima series was Canon's line of consumer compact cameras for nearly 20 years. Although the first model to bear the Prima name was the Prima Tele in 1988, the Top Shot in 1986 already foreshadowed the series. In fact, its American name is SureShot Supreme, with SureShot being the American equivalent of Prima.
These cameras are all easy to use (point and shoot), generally inexpensive. They are mostly made of plastic, with manufacturing often outsourced to China.

__________
The camera powers on and off by opening (and closing) the solar panel. The shooting mode is fully automatic. The shutter button has two positions: halfway, where a green LED indicates that autofocus is ready and memorizes the focus (when blinking, there's a risk of motion blur); a further press triggers the shutter. In case of insufficient light for the automatic range, the red-eye reduction LED blinks.
A plastic attachment fixed to the strap allows for premature film rewinding by inserting it into the appropriate hole on the bottom plate.
When the camera is exposed to direct sunlight for recharging the accumulator, the solar panel automatically opens about 15° to prevent overheating of the camera.
Charging times are long: it takes 3 to 8 hours outdoors for a charge sufficient for using a 36-exposure film, and 180 hours indoors, which is about a week... It's recommended to recharge the battery without film inside in full sunlight.
There is a micro switch on the bottom plate. If it has been accidentally manipulated, the accumulator cannot be recharged. The hollow part should be on the screw side. Otherwise, you can slide it with the tip of a paper clip.
It's possible to replace the rechargeable lithium Li-Ion battery US14500: on the strap side, with the panel open at 15°, simply unscrew the two small black screws on the hinged cover. The battery poles have tabs; the trickiest part is removing the tape without damaging the negative pole tab.
Over 20 years after its introduction, the lithium battery still accepts recharging. As an original camera (the only one offering this technology to our knowledge), it's regrettable that it's not waterproof, which would have made it a perfect eco-friendly and durable outdoor camera.
In recent years, solar chargers for phones and other devices have appeared on the market.
