Si le W du nom du modèle est sans ambiguïté, car le mot Waterproof apparaît sur la face avant de l'appareil, on peut penser que le S concerne la protection anti-chocs (Shock). Ce compact est un petit baroudeur qui craint ni une (petite) chute, ni un (petit) plongeon. Il est en théorie étanche jusqu'à une profondeur de 5 mètres, mais aussi fonctionnel à -10°c.
Son look est attrayant. Il est de forme plate. Le zoom est donc périscopique, ce qui malheureusement l'empêche de disposer d'un vrai grand-angle.
