Chronology of cameras Panasonic
Panasonic est, avec ce modèle, en concurrence avec Olympus, et son Pen E-P2. La stratégie commerciale est cependant différente. Panasonic ne force pas la main de l'acheteur et l'EVF (viseur électronique) est une option (200 euros). Du coup, il n'y a pas de viseur optique prévu. Panasonic a intégré un flash à son appareil, même si celui-ci est d'une grande faiblesse, avec seulement un nombre-guide de 6.
La ligne est plus sobre, rappelant un peu celle des Powershot G.
L'appareil était vendu en kit : appareil + zoom 14 - 45 mm f:3,5-5,6 ou appareil + obj. 20 mm f:1,7.
Un objectif de 14 mm était disponible hors-kit.
About Panasonic and Matsushita
Panasonic, originally founded in 1918 by Konosuke Matsushita, is a diversified conglomerate that encompasses a wide range of businesses. Today, it comprises 680 companies involved in electrical equipment, including battery production, household appliances, and electronics such as radios, TVs, video cameras, and DVD players. Its success initially began with the introduction of an innovative double socket and other simple electrical equipment by its founder.
It appears that optical and purely photographic equipment was never a primary focus of the Matsushita Group, as their strength primarily lay in electronics. Alongside numerous other brands, including National, Technics, JVC, and Panasonic, the latter brand now serves as the name of the holding company. This well-known label, particularly in the United States, allowed them to enter the photographic product market. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, they introduced some consumer-level film cameras alongside more sophisticated video cameras.
Today, the group produces Lumix digital cameras (APNs), which are highly regarded in their class.
