Canon AL-1 QF, was marketed as from March 1982.
It was provided of origin with a lens for mounting FD of 50mm aperture to 1.4.

The barrel of speed selection proposes in addition to the automatic position, the B pose and the 1/15, 1/30, 1/60 (synchro flash), 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, and the 1/1000 second. Compared to other contemporary cameras within the brand, the shutter is thus simplified because he does not propose really slow speeds.

For the exposure, it functions on the same principle as his brothers AE1 or A1: Automatic, semi-automatic, or manual.

It is fed by 2 batteries of 1.5 volts placed in the ergonomic embossing, which ensures a good taking in hand.

The characteristic of this camera is its assistance system with the focusing called “Quick Focus”. It is not yet the autofocus system, which it will be necessary to wait still 3 years. The focusing is correct as soon as the diode central, green, ignites. Two other diodes, reds, indicate correction to be brought to the focusing. The form diode of arrow indicates the direction of rotation to be given to the lens.

The principle is simple and reliable, and however this model was not a great success.

This camera also exists in metallized version.

Note: The technical principle of this assistance calls upon a transparent main mirror, therefore part of the light which it go through reflected by a second mirror, hidden behind the principal, towards three sensors CCD. A microcomputer measures contrast on the sensors and after calculation gives instructions to the diodes of indication.
