Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________The Canon TX is a slightly downgraded version of the Canon FTb, as the maximum shutter speed is limited to 1/500th of a second. The goal was to offer a somewhat cheaper alternative to the FTb.
The other features of the TX remain similar to those of the FTb. It is a semi-automatic camera. In the viewfinder, a first needle moves according to the selected shutter speed and the light meter's reaction. A second needle, ending in a ring, moves according to the aperture choice. The aim is to align the two needles so that the ring on one needle covers the perspective of the other needle.
When the meter coupling is exceeded, a half-moon shaped signal appears at the bottom right of the viewfinder image. The coupling range at 100 ASA goes from 1/4 second to 1/500th, and at 1600 ASA from 1/60 to 1/500th.
The light meter is located behind the prism, near the viewfinder eyepiece. Its measurement is center-weighted, below the area covered by the microprisms.
Canon FD lenses allow full aperture metering. FL and R lenses only allow stopped-down metering.
Judging by its rarity at flea markets, this camera likely had limited success in France. This can be explained by its chronological positioning between two commercial successes, the FTb and the AE-1.
