Chronology of cameras Ricoh
The later AF series could probably be described as the intermediate range of Ricoh compacts; between the XF and the FF series.
The precise date of release of this camera is not known, but it was probably soon after the release of the AF-50 in June 1985. The first AF's looked much like the cameras of the previous two decades, (except for the all plastic body), but with the AF-50 the series was redesigned into a smaller angular box shape with auto focus, DX decoding, a flip up flash, and a 3,5/35 mm 'Rikenon' lens, instead of the earlier 2,8/38 mm. The corners were rounded off in subsequent models of the series.
The AF-60D is the date imprinting model of the AF-60. It has a replacement back door which contains the battery (CR1205), and the electronics for the recording of the time and date on the film.
This diagram created by VB allows us to measure the complexity of Ricoh's history.
