Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________The Canonflex was replaced in 1960 by the R2000. The prism remains removable, and the shutter speed reaches 1/2000. To offer a more affordable alternative, Canon simultaneously released the Canonflex RP.
On this model, the shutter speed remains at 1/1000 and the prism is fixed. The external clip-on light meter is optional.
The lenses are from the same "R" series as on the R2000 and the first Canonflex. One of the unique features of these Canonflex cameras is having a film advance lever on the bottom plate.
This model is also available in a black finish.
