Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________The Canon TL is a simplified version of the FT QL, retaining the same base, making it visually identical.
It loses several functions:
- No self-timer
- No manual mirror lock-up system
- No battery tester
- No shutter release lock (Never store it cocked!)
- The shutter speed is now limited to 1/500
Despite this, it remains a good, solid, and reliable camera. Being entirely mechanical, it operates without a battery and suffers from only one major flaw as it ages. Like many Canons of that era, the foam supporting the prism deteriorates and irreparably damages it by destroying the silver coating. It is worth noting that it retains the Quick Load film system (QL).
