Agfa Optima 500 sensor

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

The OPTIMA 500 Sensor was, in 1969, the first camera of the mark to raise the red button, marks distinctive of Sensor, this shutter release ultra-soft which limited the risk of moved to release. It consisted of a fine metal membrane, whose race was 0,5 mm maximum.
The 500 is equipped with a collimated finder, an automatic cell and a shutter going from 1/30 to 1/500 (from where the name of the camera). The clip is provided with a metal trigger which is inserted as soon as a flash is positioned. It synchronizes the shutter to the 1/30 second. The setting of the distance is made with three pictograms (those which you know from now on so well!). The lens is Color Apotar 2,8/42 mm.

This 35mm is of very good quality. There also exists in chrome version.

Following my question about indication “LZ/GN”, I received a response of Ph. Coste which specifies me that LZ equal Guide number for scale in meters, GN equal Guide number for scale in inches.
“The automatic device of flash is connected as soon as one fixes it on the grid a flash at direct contact. As the cameras flash present different guides number, it is initially necessary to defer on the camera the number corresponding to 18 DIN indicated. To turn the black ring thus knurled until the corresponding number appears in the conspicuous one”. The shutter speed for the photograph with the flash is the 1/30ème.

To rewind, it is necessary “To initially push back the lever R in direction of the tube of the lens then to the top (see arrow). In this position it remains engaged. The fast winding lever is also useful for rewinding of film. To rock each time completely. The counter is actuated, in the opposite direction with each impulse. As soon as letter A appears in conspicuous meter we can open the camera and withdraw the film cartridge”

There is also a version with a shutter limited to the 1/200 (Agfa Optima Sensor 200) and another very close camera: Silette LK Sensor.

The Optima 500 Sensor in 1970 was worth 655 francsin chrome version and 697 francsin black version .
