The classification used here is adapted from that of Wolfgang Huller and Andrea Apra '. On the other hand, as this particular variant is called model A (3. issue) by some, model B (1.version) by others, not to mention other classifications, and taking into account that the engraving "Osaka" provides an easy criterion of identification, I agree with Andrea's opinion, taking the classification logic we are accustomed to, to name this camera a 35 A (type c)!

After producing about 700 units in 1947, up to serial number 0780, two distinct types (type a and type b) are now identified, some very visible changes are made:
- The triangular lock blocking slow speeds on 1/25th of a second disappears.
- The progress of these slow speeds is modified: 1, 2, 4, 8, 25, always readable from the face (1, 2, 5, 10, 25 previously).
However, the hood we see here is still engraved "OSAKA", thus constituting (in our classification) the main criterion for recognition of the Minolta 35 A. About 800 copies of Minolta 35 A (type c) will come out from the factory with these features before a tiny series of transition: from 14XX serial number, maybe fifty devices will receive an unusual engraving without "Chiyoda-Kogaku Osaka" or "CKS". These are the 35 B (type a). Then, the cover will be engraved "C.K.S" and this series will be called 35 B (type b). The format remains 24 x 32 mm for 35 A (type c) and 35 B, said "Nippon Size" and better matching the dilation of the papers 24 x 36 which nevertheless impose later.

Concerning the image format, It is worth noting that some of the cameras belonging to a given type have a different image format. Some of them have been modified by machining of the internal window of the dark chamber., cutting as much as possible on the spacing of the views. The operation is sometimes visible by residues of traces with a point, as well as traces of paint on the edge of the metal thus exposed and leaving a few runs on the face. In fact, the only thing to really consider is the number of perforations involved at every cocking: 7 perforations for the 35 A and B (theoretical size 24 x 32), 8 perforations on all of the following (theoretical size from 24 x 33 ( 35 C and 35 D (type a)) at 24 x 34 (35 D (type b) to IIB)). In any case, it is not necessary to be finicky to the nearest half-millimeter: the original operating instructions for the Minolta 35 Model E speaks abaout 24 x 34.5 mm, while a leaflet of the same the Model E, of the same period and from the same shop tells us 24 x 34 mm ... the difference comes undoubtedly from the measurement made on the cutting of the dark chamber in one case, and done on the negative in the other. Let's retain whole values, it's simpler! For information, a Minolta 35 A negative is measured at 24.5 x 32.5. QED.
