D'aspect, l'Optio 230 ressemble beaucoup à un compact argentique contemporain. Il faut le retourner pour trouver le trait spécifique au numérique, c'est à dire l'écran. Ici, il est particulièrement intéressant, car il est orientable. Il est possible de faire des selfies, l'orientation permettant au sujet photographié de se voir dans l'écran.
Quant au reste, c'est un appareil très médiocre.
