Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________While the light meter is detachable on the Canon FP, the Canon FX has an integrated CdS light meter. Of course, it is not TTL, and its window can be clearly seen on the right side.
This SLR had a short lifespan, and by 1966, the Grenier-Natkin catalog explained that despite its success, and due to import restrictions, this camera would be imported in limited quantities to make way for the arrival of the Pellix.
