Pontiac Bloc Metal 145

Traduction de Daniel C.

One of the most beautiful French folding (in my opinion…) !

In the range of the 6x9 cm format foldings, Pontiac issued the Bloc Metal 145 which was mainly dedicated to export. In this model, the shutter is not any more a Prontor II but a Compur Rapid reaching the 1/400 sec.
Initially foreseen with a Pontiac Rapid allowing the 1/500 sec., the name of Compur has been kept as a  sale argument. The mention “licence française” ( French licence) has been added because of the high skill of the personnel in charge of manufacturing the shutters in the Chotard company.

Usually made of cast and polished hydronalium, as every Bloc Metal 45, this model is cased.

The technical specifications are as follows:

  • 5 lens Som Berthiot Paris Flor lens, 1:4.5/f=105mm
  • Compur Rapid shutter : 1/400 sec + B and T (long exposure)
  • Diaphragm stops 4,5 / 6,3 / 8 / 11 / 16 / 23
  • Distance 1.75 m to 50 m + infinite
  • Self timer : 10 seconds
  • Shutter release button on the body, retracting when camera is closed.
  • Depth of field table dial on the top of the body
  • Built in optical finder
