SP means Spotmatic. Spotmatic was at the time of its presentation in Photokina of 1960, the first reflex camera with TTL measurement . The SP500 which goes back to 1971 in is a version a little more economic.Maximum speed is 1/500 secondes (from where its name) whereas Spotmatic allowed the 1/1000 secondes. It is also deprived of retarder. It is presented here with a clip which took seat around the eyepiece. Its standard lens is Super-Takumar the 2/55mm (6 elements).
