Chronology of cameras Idam
The company IDAM, Industrie d'Appareils Mécaniques, has manufactured at least four small cameras cast in Zamak (an alloy composed of Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper). The four known models are Roc, Clic, Belco, and Ervey. The first model, Clic, uses Bantam film. Its viewfinder is simple, with two lenses. The subsequent models have a somewhat unusual combination of two viewfinders. The manufacturer justifies this by explaining that one of the two is used for subject framing, and the other (Galilean type) is for actual aiming. The large viewfinder often gives the impression of losing a built-in extinction light meter.
Years | Size | Viewfinder | Lens | Shutter
Clic | 1949-51 | 3 x 3 (828) | 1 | Bilux 8/3.5 cm | P, I
Roc | 1951-59 | 4 x 4 (127) | 2 | Bilux 8/4.5 cm | P, I
Belco | c. 1951 | P, I | ||||
Ervey | 50's | ? |
The announcement of a 4 x 4 format is optimistic, as the darkroom window measures 3.5 x 3.5 cm.__________
The construction is very simple. The assembly of the rectangular front part onto the body is done with a single screw, easily accessible from inside the camera. The back is held in place by two clips: one on the base, the other near the viewfinder.
