Chronology of cameras Canon
The EOS system (Electro-Optical System) represents a complete departure from previous Canon cameras, as everything changes, especially due to the lack of compatibility with FD lenses.
EOS cameras feature sophisticated electronics and excellent autofocus, made possible by the new range of EF lenses with integrated motors (USM). The coupling between the camera body and the lens is now purely electrical. Gone is the small cam that protruded from the rear of FD lenses.
The overall design is new, although it retains some small reminiscences of the T90, designed by Colani.

The name EOS has been retained to designate the digital SLR cameras of the brand.__________
Since 1981, a year when sales peaked at 3 million units, Canon had seen its sales plummet, reaching 1.3 million in 1989. Therefore, Canon chose the city of Berlin, a symbol of renewal, to present its new flagship in September 1990.
Canon had studied the market and found that while the sales of cameras and films were increasing, more sales were being made on advanced compacts at competitive prices. The Canon EOS 1000 was designed to meet the same criteria as these compacts, while offering the ability to change lenses, all for under 3000 francs, which seemed to be the psychological barrier preventing amateurs from switching from compact cameras to SLRs.
To reduce the price (and weight, also a crucial factor), Canon reconsidered its manufacturing methods, relocating its assembly lines, using a lot of plastic, and reducing the number of parts.
The EOS 1000 was sold in two kits: the first, very popular, paired the body with a 35-80 mm zoom lens (non-USM), and the second also included an 80-200 mm zoom lens. The functions of this camera were the same as those of other EOS bodies: multi-priority, multi-program modes, etc.
